We’ll begin our 6-day desert tour from Marrakech, a city rich in history, once the capital of Morocco's ancient monarchs and an important center in the Maghreb Union. Our adventure starts at 8 am as we drive through the majestic High Atlas Mountains, home to Morocco's highest peak, Mount Toubkal (4,167 meters). We’ll journey through the scenic Tizi N’Tichka pass, renowned for its ever-changing landscapes.
Our first stop will be at an Amazigh village, where we’ll enjoy a refreshing tea with mint or coffee. Then, we’ll visit the historic Ait Ben Haddou village to explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This ancient fortress, once crucial to the salt trade and famously featured in films like The Man Who Would Be King, offers a rare insight into Morocco’s cultural and cinematic heritage.
After a delicious regional lunch, we’ll continue our journey toward the Dades Valley. We’ll pass through Kalaat M’Gouna, known for its beautiful rose fields, and the charming Skoura villages. Finally, we’ll reach the Dades Valley, with its awe-inspiring gorge formations, where we’ll spend the first night of our tour.
The following morning, after a hearty breakfast, we’ll continue our journey through the Dades Valley, marveling at the striking rock formations known as the "Monkey Toes" and the picturesque Kasbahs nestled into the stunning landscape, including the historic 19th-century Kasbah of Ait Yul.
Our path will then take us to the Tinghir region and the Todra Valley, famous for its panoramic views and the surrounding Amazigh villages. In the Todra Valley, we’ll enjoy a scenic walk along the river, surrounded by towering 300-meter-high red cliffs—an iconic location favored by rock climbers.
Lunch will be served in either Rissani or Erfoud, two charming oases in the Sahara. Afterward, we’ll continue our journey to Merzouga, the gateway to the golden sand dunes. Here, you’ll be welcomed with a refreshing cup of mint tea before heading to your desert camp for the night.
